6th step on the Essene path: The Essene Villages are places where beings who are moved by the will to give a body to God on the earth can come to live. Another way of living then becomes possible, by entering onto the path of transformation while keeping a balance between individuality and community, in order to offer the best of themselves to the great Whole.

What is the definition of an Essene village?

An Essene village is a territory consecrated to a way of living and perceiving life that is different from the norm.

The very first Essene village came into being at the beginning of the 2000s in the south of France, initiated by a group of Essenes who recognized the importance of gathering together to establish a new way of life on the planet.
This village was named TERRANOVA and is still in operation.

Since then, the Essenes have undertaken to build, create and organize spaces where such places of dwelling can spread everywhere like welcoming sanctuaries for all beings.

The Essene villages are thus family communities where the Essenes gather in order to live in accordance with their convictions.
They are characterized by great inventiveness, with a recognition and preservation of divinity in the simple aspects of daily life.

Within these territories, the Essenes adopt an animist approach; that is, they live in harmony with the seasons, with the four fundamental elements of life, and with all the beings that inhabit living nature, including minerals, plants and animals.
They live in accord with the higher realms, respecting the great universal laws.

In these villages, the Essenes choose to withdraw from the agitation of the world in order to devote themselves to a life centered on the common good and on the Light.
They choose a different way of life, focused on work, study, meditation, simplicity, family life, care for every living being and the ennoblement of all daily activities.

The Essenes regard these villages as a land of the future, where they wish to sow the noblest seeds so that the best may sprout in times to come.
These are special places where every aspect of human life is orchestrated in harmony with the fundamental values of existence, from birth to death, so that each stage may be lived with dignity and respect.

Living in an Essene Village

Life in an Essene village does not fundamentally differ from life outside.
The Essenes lead a normal existence, centered on essential values: work, the protection of the family, individual health and creativity placed at the service of the common good—that is to say, of the divine.

In these villages, the Essenes strive to establish a different way of living on the Earth. Through a simple life connected to their environment, they seek to restore the fundamental values of existence at the heart of their daily life: respect for work, individual freedom, protection of the family and of the most vulnerable, mutual solidarity, and the preservation of all by caring for living nature…

The Essene villages are also centers of teaching and study of the universal Tradition. Within these villages, the Teaching is studied in depth during weekly conferences broadcast throughout the world. The Teaching is also transmitted through meditation and the practice of sacred bodily activities.

For the Essenes, formation and the study of the Teaching are essential for the transformation of the individual and the regeneration of their body. This means that the Essenes engage in a deep education not only of their inner life, but also of its bodily expression in everyday life. This is why meditation and the learning of sacred movements within nature are fundamental, allowing the Teaching to incarnate in a concrete way in the daily and physical life of the Essenes.

For the Essenes, our aim is not to oppose the present world or to push it away, but rather to build a world within the world—a world where individual freedom elevates the human being and allows them to express their true authenticity, acting in accord with their being.

This true autonomy leads the human being to distinguish themselves by taking their own life in hand with discernment and intelligence, in order to create an honorable future for generations to come.

The Essene villages serve as places of formation, initiation and development of the individual. Throughout the year, the Essenes gather regularly in these villages to share and to live the Teaching at various levels.

Once or twice a year, sessions of formation, retreat and initiation are offered to all Essenes throughout the world.
It is an opportunity to spend a few weeks in the heart of nature, to come together as a great family, to take time for oneself and to renew one’s strength, while engaging seriously in inner work.

During retreat periods, each person can experience silence, meditation and inner reflection in an enchanting and simple setting. Retreat in an Essene village allows for a true connection with living nature, a reunion with Mother Earth. These special moments offer the opportunity to let go and to relearn how to live in harmony with the elements and with all living beings in nature.
